So in the explanation of this new feature all the images are not in english, but it's still pretty obvious that most of the tasks involve plants and sometimes potions/herbs/powders. When we complete these tasks, is that plant or item taken away? Or it is just a matter of producing that number of items to complete the task?

From what I can gather from the images, the only reward I see is maybe half a dozen spots that will produce extra yield. Are there other rewards?

you won't lose these items, you just have to produce the number of items then it'll count as completed.
