The best birthday present I had was for my 40th birthday ... it was that my brothers brought my mother whom I had not seen for 2 years ... I cried for a while hour, I could not stop crying (for joy)
She died the following year ...
The worst gift was for my 30 years, it was one cheap earring, that my ex husband offered me, when he had just bought an expensive metal detector (the day before)

worst gift - when I was about 10, my step-grandmother gave me hard clear plastic make-up trays that sit on the counter and hold your make-up...though I didn't wear make-up yet. But when I did...I was ready. 
Wouldn't have been as bad if I didn't watch all her "real" grandchildren open hundreds of dollars in the popular toy that year from her.
best gift: my son, he was suppose to arrive before Christmas though was a bit late coming after the new year. Made for interesting conversations over the holidays and lots of expectations!

Best was a 3 week trip to the Uk to spend Christmas with All my family ( including my Sister who lives in Australia & I hadn't seen for 9yrs ) All paid for by my family xx

The best gift - My son. In all honesty, I was told I'd never have my own child. I have PCOS. We had an ultrasound and counted fingers and toes around Christmas.
The worst gift- clothes that were two sizes too small. My grandfather disliked how big I was so it was a not so subtle hint.
