They are what is know as placeholders, Biff. Programmers put them in the game to "hold" a place so that later they can add programming to that placeholder. Otherwise, they would fill up the screen/programming with stuff and when they wanted to add something new there might not be any space or 'place' to anchor it. That's extreme layman's terms for it - but that's what they are there for and that's what they do, lol.

Hi players
I wanted to let you know, we have slightly modified the way we made games on the forum.
Now each moderator manages the games for a week, each in turn, and he does what he wants during this week, whether it's a game that lasts a week or several games on different days.
There will not necessarily be a weekend game as before.

There will be a Fast quiz - First 10 win (these will be set at different times so that everyone has a chance no matter where you live).
The will be week long quizzes - Yes, these will be hard but the effort will be worth it. Rules will be stricter. If you don't put in the effort you won't win the major prize.
Along with these there will be more new quizes and events combined with all the usual ones that you are all used to.
