australia would still be the largest continent or island
it just wasn't discovered

well if it was discovered or not it was still there and still the same size or does this not make any sense?

Pangea was a supercontinent that existed at the end of the Paleozoic and early Mesozoic ... so, which says "supercontinent" does not mean "island" ... or so it is that we can consider all continents as islands, opening another debate
The concept of Pangea appears, for the first time, in a 1912 publication. In a book entitled "The Genesis of the Continents and the Oceans", published in 1915, he describes Pangea as bringing together almost all the emerged lands, which existed from the late Carboniferous to the early Permian 290 million years ago.
The fact that this concept does not appear for the first time until 1912 places it after the discovery of Australia in 1522. (It is obvious that no one could be present, in person, there are 290 million years to discover this supercontinent) ;)

I think this game is meant to be a sort of riddle.

Whether Australia is an island or a continent it was the same size before and after discovery. So the answer would be :The un-named land that is now known as Australia.
