our christmas tree is always done in colour co-ordination with the reef for the door, so this year we are doing silver and purple, first when the tree goes up the lights go on (musical of course), then the tinsel goes on and then the ornaments, and lastly the "rain" (for those who don't know what that is it is thin strips of tinsel), oh and we have an angel as a topper.

Our tree is what our grandson wants it to be, which is the way it should be.

My tree is hodge-podge. It reflects all the places I have been in my gipsy travels.
From Las Vegas, Georgia, Texas, California, Idaho, Turkey, Louisiana all supplied glass ordainments in every color, reds, blues, dusty rose, golds, silver, some solid some opaque, some purely see-thru. and glass icicles, snowflakes, and other shapes then beads and ribbons.
Texas reindeer
Hawaii & Guam coconut warriors
Japan crackled glass
German wooden St. Nicks
Portuguese porcelain
Polish Pottery ordainments
Greece, France, Korean and Australian trinkets
New Zealand wood ordainments
To finish it off, a spire on top with a nativity screen below the tree

Yes, it is uniquely me/mine

I don't celebrate Christmas but if I did, I would have live tree so I could plant it (return to Mother Gaia alive, the way I took it form Her) after hollyday is over. Decorations will be made from wood and glass, in red and gold colours, with lots of shiny sparkles and warm white lights.

My ideal Christmas tree would be all violet, lavender, and mixture of purples on a beautiful white tree.

Given that I have a 6 year old, it'll be a mish mash of all colors and fun!

from tomc0025

I'm divorced, the kids are all grown up and don't come over and I live in a very small condo, so I don't bother putting up a tree anymore. Plus I've always been too lazy taking down the tree. Some years It was still up and could put Easter Egg ornaments on it. LOL.

This brings to mind though of the hideous tree my mom put up for several years while is was a kid. We had one of those awful silver tinsel trees with the rotating colored lights rotating at the bottom of the tree changing its color.

I can't compete with Mother Nature. Save the trees and let them be frosted with snow and bathed in sunlight.

My favorite Christmas Tree memory happened 35 yrs ago. My son was born on Dec. 21 and when he was in Kinder garden, we had a Birthday party with his friends. Our Christmas Trees were always 7 - 8 ft tall ( about 2m). The kids were encouraged to decorate the tree. Once they were done, the first 4' (about 1m) were loaded down with all the decorations we owned. We left their efforts, but had to buy some more to decorate the rest of the tree. My sons is still a Christmas freak :)
