Avoid walking under a ladder (that one makes sense, since stuff could fall off the ladder and hit you)
Four-leaf clovers should bring luck. (I find lots of them, but give them away, I also find 5 or 6 leaf clovers)

Breaking a mirror is worth Seven Years bad luck so try to avoid that.
Sweeping your feet or getting your feet swept is bad luck so spit on the broom to stave it off.
If the Palm of your Left hand itches scratch it because it foretells bad luck. If the Palm of your Right hand itches DON'T SCRATCH it because it foretells a gain. If the itch becomes unbearable then rub it against something to ease the itch.
Don't put your shoes on the bed, it is believed to cause the death of a family member.

Some people think that just speaking of something bad is bad luck and knocking on wood will help avoid it.

Walking under ladders is said to be bad luck, but I think that is because they can fall on you!

Spilling salt is supposed to be bad luck and you throw some over your shoulder to ward it off.
